FOR CHILDREN

Nurturing the Soul

at age appropriate levels

After having a multi-learning styled experience, children will have 45 minutes to think, explore and express their feelings around the subject using various art forms. Some are modeled and encouraged to try but children are given a choice in the materials they use and how they will present. We always praise positive emotions and interactions but will guide little ones through difficult feelings or situations. The creation process and celebrated presentation is all geared towards growing the child’s emotional state as well as their soul.

Why Do We Focus on Nurturing a Child's Soul?

The Soul is the essence of a person; a guide to who they may be. The emotional, receptive and expressive states all in one. StarLight AcadeMe aspires to build up a child’s soul.

Soul? Humans for generations have pondered the questions; Do souls even exist? And if so, what is it?

Science explains that chemical energy (ATP) courses through our body and makes it functional. The nervous system is a highway which sends information all over the body, a necessary action for our animated existence. Without these electrical currents, we would no longer be alive. But is that a soul?

Children Feel Things In Their Soul

Many have tried to define the intangible and ambiguous meaning and sometimes existence of the soul.

It is our belief that the soul is why we are here, having this human experience. We believe the soul is our epicenter, a core atomic structure, which can grow or become depleted. All those times we felt left out, or silenced or discouraged we felt it in our soul.

And it works both ways. When we accomplish something we’ve worked hard towards, we feel it in our soul. When we connect with a friend, someone we are completely comfortable with, we feel it in our soul. When we are dancing, singing, laughing and smiling, we feel it in our soul. Through all the practices supplied at StarLight, the main goal is for children to feel good in their soul. We help children find their inner “me” and let it shine.

The soul, as we see it, is also linked to emotional intelligence.

Psychology Today says, “Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to identify and manage one’s own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. Emotional intelligence is generally said to include a few skills: namely emotional awareness, or the ability to identify and name one’s own emotions; the ability to harness those emotions and apply them to tasks like thinking and problem solving; and the ability to manage emotions, which includes both regulating one’s own emotions when necessary and helping others to do the same.”

The Soul: A Topic of Conversation for Hundreds of Years

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” And Jesus says, “And do not fear those who destroy the body but cannot destroy the soul.”

King James Bible, Matthew 10:28

“Plato believed that the soul was immortal; it was in existence before the body and it continues to exist when the body dies.”
