Why Do We Focus on the Mind?

The Mind is the headquarters which controls the whole being. A device which needs to be sharpened and well-maintained through repetitious behaviors and promotion of positive mental health. Medical News Today explains mental health relates to “cognitive, behavioral, and emotional well-being. It is all about how people think, feel, and behave.”

Starting this healthy cycle at a young age will give people the tools they need to manage their lives as they grow. Sadly, a significant amount of American adults today suffer without these beneficial tools.

Introduction of Meditation

StarLight focuses on developing the mind and good mental health through self-regulating and knowledge seeking practices. In the beginning of their practice, children will be provided with the skills to regulate their minds as well as their bodies. Through means of meditation, breathing exercises and a soothing environment. This will be interchangeable with an informative, multi-learning style lesson. The meditation will help children process the information and find clarity in the subject matter.

The Mental Health Foundation states “Good mental health is characterized by a person's ability to fulfill a number of key functions and activities, including: the ability to learn. the ability to feel, express and manage a range of positive and negative emotions, the ability to form and maintain good relationships with others.”*
