Hi, I'm Ashley Larsen
Just a kid on the block in Brooklyn, NY.
Growing up in New York City, I was introduced to all kinds of people, cultures and lives. Friends with family all over the world and I enjoyed the differences. I was molded into embracing all life had to offer. At the age of 14, I had the responsibility of getting to a specialized High School of Art & Design, in the city, from Staten Island, a two hour bus trip there and back. My dedication for studying various forms of art got me to school everyday, rain, shine or blistering cold.
Wanting a change of pace, I sought after the quiet hills of Oneonta, NY and studied the vastness of the English Language in literature. After receiving my Bachelors in English, I headed back to the city. In a pursuit to become a model/actress, I found the industry empty and quickly fell in love with helping children instead.
My Start in Education
I took a substituting position in a school for children with special needs. Not knowing I would adore these little individuals, they ended up changing my life forever. The most fulfilling work I know is being part of a child’s success and working through any challenges they may face.
The joy that success brought was worth completing a double Masters in Special and General Early Childhood Education as well as studying and passing the five exams it took to become a certified Educator. I wanted to be diverse, someone who could help anyone.
After five years in the Department of Education as a crisis paraprofessional, I dove deeper into the science behind behavior and neurological functions. Earning a position at an Early Intervention agency, I began to understand the development of children.
Working with countless families has blessed me with unmatchable knowledge, skills and compassion. I have spent the past two years developing and designing holistic programs to help advance a child’s development and knowledge of the world.
Complementary Interests
Being granted a variety of experiences really enhanced my interests and passions. Other than the many forms of art and the development of humans, I found an interest in health and fitness. I studied and practiced various physical activities such as yoga, weight lifting, Pilates, Barre, running, dancing, horseback riding, recreational football and boxing. My eagerness to try everything lead me to create a place children can come learn, study, explore and understand the many facets of life.
I want to help guide children on their journey and help them find some lasting interests and passions of their own.
